The Person Behind the Quote--
Steven Pressfield (born September 1943 in Port of Spain, Trinidad) is an American novelist and author of screenplays, principally of military historical fiction set in classical antiquity.
His epic novel Gates of Fire is required reading at the U.S. Military Academy and the Virginia Military Institute[citation needed], and according to the L.A. Times, "has achieved cult status among Marines.
Pressfield served in the United States Marine Corps in the 1960s, and later graduated from Duke University.

I wonder if he has advise about how to get rid of that Resistance.
ReplyDeleteKay, I don't think Pressfield is a Christian, he may be, I don't know yet. BUT, he says in his book about creativity that there is a Creator and he created us to be a certain way, AND that "We are not born with unlimited choices... Our job in this lifetime is not to shape ourselves into some ideal that we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we already are and become it." So, I think his answer would be that, to get rid of Resistance, you find out who you are and show up to do the work. I found this quote in an Amazon review of his book The War of Art. I'm intrigued by his ideas.
ReplyDeleteWow, I read a little of the excerpt from his book The War of Art. It sounds like it's worth checking out. I put it on hold from our library, I am number seven so I won't see it for awhile. It must be good to have that many people waiting for it. Thanks for pointing him out.
